Competition

Miss Eligibility

  • High school graduate before that year’s state competition in the summer

  • Between 17-25 years of age and no older than 24 years of age at the time you will compete for a national title

  • A resident for at least six (6) months, work full-time or attend school full-time in Kitsap County

  • Never been married and/or pregnant, and have always been female

  • Be a U.S. citizen

  • Want to earn scholarship dollars for college education

  • Have a talent such as music, vocal, drama or dance

  • Have a platform or cause to promote

  • Meet character requirements as set forth by the Miss America Organization

  • Promote and raise $100 for the Children’s Miracle Network a week before the Miss West Sound competition

  • Able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities required for both competing for and holding the title of Miss West Sound

Teen Eligibility

  • No younger than 13 years old and no older than 17 years old at the time of Miss West Sound/OT Orientation

  • If 17, you must not be a graduating senior (that means you are eligible for the Miss program instead)

  • Be a U.S. citizen

  • Never been married and/or pregnant, and have always been female

  • Have a talent such as music, vocal, drama or dance

  • Have a community issue or cause to promote

  • Able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities required for both competing for and holding the title of Miss West Sound’s Outstanding Teen

Phases of Competition

Private Interview

During this conversation with our panel of judges, you will be scored on overall first impression, personal appearance, personality, intelligence, articulation and your ability to form an opinion.

Physical Fitness in Swimsuit (Miss)/Active Wear (Teen)

In this competition, judges will be looking for fitness and health, posture, grace, a sense of confidence and presence and personality.

Talent

In this phase of competition you will be scored on skill, personality, interpretive ability, entertainment and stage presence.  The use of costumes and props is allowed. 

Evening Wear

You will be scored in this competition based on your sense of confidence, personality and stage presence, appropriateness of attire, posture and elegance.

On-stage Interview

You will be asked two questions on stage; one relating to your platform and the other a current event question. The judges will be looking for personality, confidence, eloquence and the ability to formulate a clear opinion.
